Wacol 3 Ways

Home About RHIG Projects Wacol 3 Ways

In mid-2014, RIHG received a Brisbane City Council grant of $12,693 for this project – success at last after our third submission for funds to record the unique history of this suburb!

1-c-Wacol-launch-12Mar15In line with our objective to present our history in varied formats, the story of Wacol was presented a) in print (two companion books), b) as a portable display of maps, photos and information, and c) on a new website for the group.

The books and the display were officially “launched” in March 2015 at Wolston Park Golf Club – where John Oxley landed in 1823, thus beginning the settlement history of Queensland.  The books were launched by the deputy CEO of National Trust of Australia (Queensland).

The website went live on 20 April and the website launch was held in May, significantly during Queensland Heritage Week.  The venue for this event was BCC Inala Library – which made computer terminals available for guests to view the site.
