The Name
Previously known as The Blunder, Oxley South or Oxley West, Doolandella was formally named by the Place Names Board in 1976.
The word comes from an Aboriginal expression “dulendella” for the Geebung tree and its yellow fruit, which grows well in sandy soil. The species growing around Doolandella is the broad-leaved geebung, Persoonia cornifolia.
(In some areas, the geebung is also known as Snottygobbles. It is generally very difficult to propagate).
