Our region includes one of the first areas of the future state of Queensland to be explored and settled by European immigrants – and some of the last areas of Brisbane to be “settled.” It enjoys a most interesting history, from Aboriginal times through early settlement to present day developments.
RIHG has researched and published a number of books relating to our region and suburbs. We have published over 18 titles, with topics ranging from earliest settlement to recent events of local historic importance.
“Our 14 suburbs form a patchwork of communities with broadly differing histories, characteristics and social structure – and some similarities. We cannot present a complete history of each suburb here, but we plan to regularly select and upload items of interest about our suburbs.”
A collection of stories about the local area by residents that live in the area, or did live in the area.
To counter some negative information about the Inala region, Cr Charles Strunk produced 4 short videos about the positives of the area. This group was represented in this project.
We invite you to the book launch of our latest publication Inala: A Brief History (1953-2018)
We have a Facebook page that we has ongoing discussions and keep you up to date with the group’s activities.
