About Richlands, Inala and Suburbs History Group

The Richlands, Inala and Suburbs History Group was established in 1996 and incorporated in early 2000 as a non-profit organisation.  Its aim is to further the appreciation of local history and the diverse cultural heritage within our community.  Our area of interest covers the south-western fringe of metropolitan Brisbane – see map.

New members to the group are always most welcome.
Visitors are also very welcome to attend any of our meetings and are encouraged to participate in our activities.

WHAT WE DO

In addition to holding monthly meetings (except in January) we invite speakers to talk about local historical issues, attend local festivals, visit and lend display kits to local schools and provide historical presentations to community groups by invitation.

An important part of our work is the undertaking of local research projects and the publishing of books and papers on local history.  We also lobby for the erection of commemorative history plaques in appropriate localities and the naming of local features after deserving pioneers of the district.

Frequently we work in collaboration with other history and community groups.
